   Instead, the Cybertruck is equipped with electronic switches. This is a side-effect of Tesla’s design decisions. Most new Tesla vehicles, including the Cybertruck, lack noticeable curves and utilize a flat profile to reduce drag and improve aerodynamics.

   In the case of a collision or fire, the electronic system used to open the Cybertruck’s doors can fail, making it difficult or impossible for occupants to quickly escape the vehicle.

2. Hidden Wire-Release Levers

   The Cybertruck does have a fail-safe for its electronic door system.

   In the absence of any external or internal handles, the Cybertruck employs a wire-release mechanism, which resembles a small switch or lever. The lever itself can be difficult to find. In the Cybertruck, the driver-side release is located behind the window switches. Passengers sitting in the rear of the vehicle must find a hidden compartment and remove its lining before being able to access the lever.

The eyewitness to the Bay Area crash in San Francisco claims they were initially unable to break the Cybertruck’s window to save their friends, despite using a tree branch to repeatedly strike the glass. In another incident, a woman in Northern Virginia sustained permanent, disfiguring injuries because neither she nor emergency personnel could shatter the window of her Tesla Model Y before firefighters arrived with a hydraulic cutter.
